Tyson Beckford Channels G.I. Joe and Barbie in a Pink Camo Tux — and Other Memorable Men’s Fashions at the Met Gala
Psy was also easy to spot in the sea of A-listers. The South Korean singer, 35, shunned the typical monkey suit and instead opted for a red-and-black houndstooth jacket with a bow tie -- though he was nervous with his out-of-the-box outfit at the event, hosted by Vogue.
"I express punk with this jacket with the red dots, but unfortunately every male actor and every man they are wearing just black," the "Gangnam Style " singer told MTV News. "I'm the only one who wears different colors. It's kind of embarrassing right now."
While he was embarrassed, there was really no need to be because there were many other non-traditional suits. "Glee" star Darren Criss, 26, producer Pharrell Williams, 40, and Tommy Hilfiger, 62, all embraced plaids -- from bright and bold to muted black. In the case of the uber designer, his wife, Dee, wore a similar, but also kind of clashing, pattern. It was a lot to look at, but certainly made a statement.
In addition to plaid, the color blue was a hit. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Eddie Redmayne, and Victor Cruz all embraced the hue, which wasn't that much of a departure from a traditional tux. However, two fellas took their blues to another level -- Tom Brady, whose bright and shiny Tom Ford one-button jacket made him really stand out when all eyes would have typically just been on his wife Gisele Bündchen, and Nicholas Hoult, whose silk Tom Ford dinner jacket was such a deep shade at that it almost looked purple. The color made the "X-Men: First Class" star's baby blues look brighter than ever … and we're sure Jennifer Lawrence, his rumored on-again love, noticed while she stared into them all night.
Speaking of purple, New York Knicks player Amar'e Stoudemire went for it in a big way. His suit was leather with a glittery lapel … surely a custom job not only because of the style but because he's 6'11" tall.
Lastly, there were the guys who went pretty conservative in dress, but then used an accessory to give their look an edge. "Glee" star Matthew Morrison had a star-print scarf loosely tossed around his neck. And we were amused by Jessica Alba's husband, Cash Warren, who wore a tux but then painted his fingernails black. (However, perhaps thinking better of it, he only posed for photos with his hands in his pockets.) And Jamie Campbell Bower, who we called out earlier for his fun faux piercings, wore a tuxedo with a safety pin embellished collar and cummerbund.
Which guy's look did you like best?
