Real Madrid manager news: Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas could replace Chelsea target Jose Mourinho

Andre Villas-Boas has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, after the Tottenham manager saw his odds of a summer move to the Santiago Bernabeu slashed from 25/1 to evens.
Mourinho is expected to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, with Chelsea seemingly the most likely destination for the Portuguese, and Sky Bet have placed his compatriot Villas-Boas at the front of the queue to succeed him.
The cut in Villas-Boas' odds was made following some significant stakes placed on the Tottenham boss on Sunday, while Gareth Bale is being heavily backed to follow his manager from White Hart Lane to Real Madrid.
"Villas-Boas has silenced the majority of his doubters this season and follows in the mould of Mourinho with his football philosophy but lacks the overbearing ego, which has caused so many fractions in Madrid, so he could well be the perfect fit for the Bernabeu," said Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer, as reported by Football365.
"The key to his success at Spurs has been getting the best out of Bale, so if the Welshman is their main transfer target this season then acquiring his current manager would certainly do their chances no harm."
Mourinho's future with Real Madrid has yet to be officially announced, although the 50-year-old is widely expected to leave the Spanish champions in the summer, and Chelsea remains the next expected stop for him.
The former Chelsea boss is placed at 1/3 to return to Stamford Bridge and replace Rafael Benitez, whose interim term with the club will expire at the end of the season.
